Warning! This post is going to dive into the Zoya mystery shades that were included as part of the recent "3 Free" promo. I'm guessing you want to see the polishes I'm about to show you, since you most likely got here by clicking a link that said "Today on the blog, I'm going to show you the 3 Zoya mystery shades!", or something along those lines. If by chance; however, you stumbled to my little blog through a Google search, or you managed to type my URL into your browser all by yourself - WELCOME! I'M SO HAPPY YOU FOUND ME! But for those of you who haven't received your Zoya package and want to keep these mystery polishes a surprise, you should click away now (I'll miss you!).
Now that we've gotten that bit of business out of the way, let's talk mystery shades! I have to say, I was a little underwhelmed by the surprise polishes. I do love them - if you read my last post, you'll remember that I LOVE NEUTRALS - but I think the air of mystery surrounding this promo had me thinking these polishes would be some crazy color I've never seen before. Instead, they are pretty much neutrals, with a bit of an edge. Here's what the polishes look like in the bottle - remember, the promo only included these polishes in mini's. I think part of the reason I was underwhelmed when I first saw the polishes, is because the black & nude polishes just looked like cremes - not overly exciting. However, you'll be happy to know that the black polish is much more than a creme black polish! More on that later...
The mystery shades are (from left to right)...Drum roll, please!
- Charlott - Nude creme
- Anais - Black/dark gun metal grey with silver shimmer
- Severine - Gold with shimmer
Charlott
Charlott is a pretty, glossy nude with a great formula! It has a bit of a yellow undertone in certain lights and in these pictures - definitely more than I expected when I saw it in the bottle. It may just be appearing that way against my skin tone, I'm not sure, but I liked it nonetheless. I didn't have any application issues with this one, and I'm very happy with it. A basic neutral...not much more to say about it! I'll definitely wear this.
Anais
Anais is what I am calling a very dark gun metal grey. It is really a black polish with a ton of silver shimmer, but the finish in person is extremely shiny and the shimmer really stands out, which gives it that gun metal finish. This is definitely not a traditional black polish. The first coat was surprisingly sheer, which I wasn't expecting for such a dark polish. The formula was great, though, and was completely opaque in two coats. I'm a fan of this one, especially for when I want to wear a black with a little bit more depth to it than a traditional black polish.
Severine
Severine is a gold polish packed with shimmer, with a metallic finish (I think this is considered a metallic finish, at least). This was my least favorite of the group. Just by nature of the type of finish this polish has, the brush strokes are pretty visible. I'm generally not super into metallic finishes either, so this is just an okay polish in my opinion. I don't see myself wearing this as a full mani, but rather an accent nail. I think a lot of people will like this polish, this type of finish is just not my cup of tea.
And that's all folks! All three of the Zoya mystery polishes - REVEALED! It's always fun to get a surprise in your mail box, so I'm really happy with these mini's! I can't wait to start playing around with the three full size polishes that I bought as part of this promo - I'm in love with them! Press that follow button below, and you can see which three I picked up as part of the promo in a future blog post!
Did you take advantage of the Zoya promo? If so, what did you think of the mystery polishes? Which were your favorite?
