Santa came for an early visit this year!
I used the Santa as my accent nail, but on the other nails, I went with a simpler look. You can achieve this simple look by using a red nail polish and starting at the cuticle, paint about 3/4 up your nail. I used a mini OPI nail polish that I got on clearance. The name was on the box, which I threw away, but I'm pretty sure it was "Red Hot Rio" from the Brazil collection. Any red will do, though. Then, paint the tip white - I used "White On" by Sally Hansen, Hard as Nails Extreme Wear. Lastly, I used a nail striper for the silver part to cover the area where the red and white polish join. Nail stipers have very thin brushes, which help you achieve thinner lines and designs on your nails. (I'll get better at those straight lines - promise!) Here's the one I used:
There's exactly one week until Christmas, so that means it's time to bust out a Christmas mani!
Yikes! Did I really just write "one week"? I can't believe how quickly Christmas is approaching - I still have so much shopping to do! This happens to me every year. I get a few gifts early in the season, which gives me confidence that I'm ahead of the game, but then about a week out, I look at my present stash and switch to panic mode! I think I've still got a few days of the "guaranteed before Christmas" shipping window left, RIGHT?! I'll pretend like I do...
Tonight, I wanted to try some nail art that I've seen floating around the internet - SANTA! Even though the hubby called it a "creepy snowman" (pretty sure he was kidding), I'm happy with my 1st attempt at this design! For the Santa, I started with red at the cuticle, then white down the sides and on the tip of my nail. I used a Q-tip to create the white part of Santa's hat (it has somewhat of a textured look in person). I also used a Q-tip for his pink nose, and a tooth pick for his black eyes. The mouth was drawn using a nail striper. If you aren't sure what that is, keep reading - it's what I used for the silver part on my other nails, and I explain what it is below!

The Santa accent nail was a little too ambitious for me try to do using my left (non-dominant hand), so on my right hand, I chose to do Santa's belt buckle. I started by painting my nail red, then put a white stripe up the middle and on the tip. I used a black nail striper about half way up my nail for Santa's belt. Lastly, I used the silver nail stiper to draw a square belt buckle around the black belt. A few smudges later, it resembles Santa's belt buckle. I promise I tried to be neat, but that little black smudge hit me at the end of my mani, and I wasn't about to start all over. We can pretend it's abstract art. If people can make millions splattering paint on a canvas, I can have a black smudge on my nail and still call it art.
As for my drink tonight, I went with a non-alcoholic drink on this cozy night. It was a bit chilly here in Cleveland, Ohio today, and what's better on a chilly night than HOT CHOCOLATE? Nothing! I've recently become obsessed with a new organic hot chocolate that I discovered, called Nib Mor. They have some really unique flavors - I had mint tonight, which was soooooooo yummy! I mixed this with warm milk, and it was so rich and creamy! You should try this if you can get your hands on it!
Well, that's all I've got for you today, folks! Has anyone sported a Christmas mani yet this season? I'd love to see them if you have! Tweet me your Christmas mani's at @KTVandie!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you stop by often!
