Well, I've hopped on the blogger train...This should be interesting!
I've been thinking about starting a blog for a while now, and I've finally pulled the trigger! WELCOME TO MANIS & MARGARITAS! If you haven't figured it out yet by the name, this blog is going to be about two great loves in my life - painting my nails, and "adult beverages". Not the "LET'S GET DRUNK" sort of beverages, but the
Your initial reaction might be - what in the world do nail polish and fruity cocktails have in common??? Well, for me, painting my nails is pure relaxation! It's a time to relieve stress and also release some creativity! Getting out my nail polish and pouring myself a drink, is my version of going to the spa for a day of pampering! And who doesn't love to spoil themselves once in a while?
Why Margaritas? You might be asking yourself this right now since I haven't mentioned a love for margaritas, specifically. Margaritas are where it all started! When my husband and I first got married, we had a slight obsession with margaritas! We went out and bought a "Margaritaville" blender (yes, the Jimmy Buffet kind) because our regular blender just didn't crush the ice to our liking (hard to please us, huh?). I own more margarita glasses than wine glasses, (I think we own 10+ YIKES!) and it was the first cocktail that I ever properly made at home! Ok, name justified....I didn't pick it just because it had a "nice ring to it". Right???
So let's jump right into what a typical blog post of mine might look like...
I usually paint my nails 2-3 times a week, and almost always on Sunday night, unless I'm at the Cleveland Brown's football game and "enjoying the suburb taste of a fine adult beverage". Hubby and I got season tickets this year, so sometimes the Sunday night mani's don't happen. When they do; however, they look something like this...

I received a cheetah print Jamberry sample from a friend, which inspired this mani. The sample was somewhat small, so the pinky won the luck of the draw! I accompanied this little gem with OPI's "First Date At The Golden Gate" from the San Francisco collection (red), and CoverGirl's Glowing Nights Glosstini in "Laser Light" (black/navy). The dark color is actually a really dark navy when you see it in the sunlight; however, it looks black 95% of the time, and I don't currently own a true black, so I just went with it. But fair warning, it's not really black if you buy it thinking it's black. Tricked me the first time I wore it! |
I chose Black Box's Cabernet Sauvignon tonight, for a pretty lame reason, actually. I needed a red wine for a recipe a few weeks ago, and I bought this small box, which was the equivalent of 3 glasses of wine, and was inexpensive. The leftover wine has been sitting in our fridge, and wine is the one drink that the hubby doesn't like. So, I thought "Oh, what the heck? I guess I'll take one for the team and finish this up!" :) It was very tasty! Try it out if you like reds. Not too sweet, not too dry, just right in the middle. I'll admit, I'm in no way a wine connoisseur, and I don't spend a lot on wine, so I'm sure true wine-o's are cringing right now! SORRY! I know more about beer and cocktails then I do wine, but I do know this one was tasty! |
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you stop by often!
