Sometimes a lazy Friday night is the perfect night for a mani!
The hubby and I decided to stay in tonight and make it a low key night, which consisted of chowing down on some pizza, and plopping ourselves in front of the TV to watch the Cavs game. While I like watching the Cavs game, I couldn't help but get the itch to fix my mess of a manicure. I haven't painted my nails since Sunday (GASP!), and the chipping was seriously starting to give me a complex. So I headed on over to the "nail studio" to spruce up my mani. Luckily the "nail studio" is about 10 feet from my "plopping down in front of the tv" spot, and I've got a great view of the game!

The View (look hubby, you're gonna be famous!):
Now for the mani... I've seen a lot of pictures on the internet of manicures that feature glittery tips. Sort of an abstract French manicure...because this is definitely not supposed to be a neat straight line type of manicure, but it has an AWEOME effect! I chose to use "Take It Outside" by Essie as my base, alongside some silver clear based glitter polish that I got for $0.99 at Walmart (I think the brand is LA Colors?) I'M IN LOVE WITH THIS LOOK! This look is pretty and glittery, yet subtle and not screaming "look I have glitter on my fingers!"
YOU can achieve this look, too! Start by painting your nails a neutral base color. I really like the idea of using a neutral color, to keep it simple and give it a sophisticated look. Paint two coats of your base color and let it dry. Choose a clear based silver glitter - notice mine has large hex glitters and small round glitters to give it a multi dimensional look. Paint the tips of your nails with the glitter, trying to get the larger glitters towards the ends of your nails and fade the smaller glitters into the base color down to about the halfway point of your nail. Finish off with a good quick dry top coat to solidify the two layers of nail polish. I use Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat, which is AMAZING! It dries extremely fast and creates a smooth layer - you won't feel the texture of those glitters!
Now do some jazz hands under the lights, and stare at all that sparkle greatness on your nails!!!
THE DRINK!
I enjoyed Thirsty Dog's 12 Dogs of Christmas today. The hubby and I actually have this one on tap (yes, we have a kegerator and it's awesome!), and we're trying to finish it up so we can pick our next delicious beer. If you've never tried this craft beer, you should! It's a great Christmas ale that's very drinkable, and it's made in Akron, Ohio. Check out the brewery here! If you've never tried a Christmas ale, they have hints of cinnamon and nutmeg in them, and they have a sweet aspect that your normal beer doesn't have. It's worth a taste test!

The night ended with a WIN! Go Cavs! There were air high fives, there were cheers, there were laughs - it was a great night at home with the hubs.
